DAY BY DAY ITINEARY:
DAY 1 - ARRIVE NORFOLK: Welcome to Norfolk Island. You will be greeted by a Wendy Wu Tours driver and taken to your hotel. Start your evening with a 2-course welcome dinner at one of the Island’s well known local restaurants. Note: Itinerary inclusions will be the same regardless of day of arrival, however the day on which they occur may vary. Please see more detail in respective tour dossiers. Dinner included.
DAY 2 - NORFOLK ISLAND: Today visit the one of Norfolk’s most popular attractions – Fletcher’s Mutiny Cyclorama; a unique 360-degree painting that brings to life the history of the Island and its locals. The remarkable 360-degree view will impress you with its realistic artistry. Enjoy the afternoon at leisure and take the time to wonder around the Island at your own pace before sitting down to enjoy a meal at the Homestead Restaurant, famed for its ‘cooking over embers’ that locks in the delicious flavours of the local fare. Breakfast and dinner included.
DAY 3 - DISCOVER NORFOLK ISLAND & REEF CRUISE: In the morning enjoy an orientation drive through the most important landmarks, with some photo opportunities for our budding photographers. Afterwards, cruise within the lagoon of Emily and Slaughter Bays. Here you will witness the beautiful coral gardens as you cruise the crystal-clear pristine waters of the lagoon on a glass-bottom boat. In the evening enjoy a traditional island BBQ at a scenic location, before our lantern-lit ghost tour where we learn about some of the Islands notorious characters. Breakfast and dinner included.
DAY 4 - HISTORY & CUISINE: Explore the World Heritage Listed area of Kingston. Learn about our first settlers; the Polynesians who arrived 900 years ago as well as the First and Second settlements and hear the legends associated with each. Discover how Norfolk became home to the descendants of the infamous Bounty mutiny and walk through the historic cemetery. Next, enjoy a visit to the Islands only boutique winery, Two Chimneys, where you’ll enjoy an exclusive cellar door experience that includes winetasting of their premium wines accompanied by homemade delicacies, fresh from the wineries garden. Our busy day of exploring isn't over just yet! This evening, our incredible setting will see you travel back in time and dine at the elegantly restored Georgian house at No.9 Quality Row, right on the beautiful Kingston foreshore. Take part in a fun-filled, interactive real-life game of Cluedo – aptly titled “Who Killed the Surveyor?” Breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
DAY 5 - CHARCTERS OF NORFOLK: Visit famed author Colleen McCullough's beloved property “Out Yenna.” After the success of her cult Aussie novel and subsequent movie ‘The Thorn Birds’, Colleen sought refuge in the tranquillity of her island home. As part of this exclusive access experience, you have the chance to see the property first hand, and appreciate why this spot inspired creativity for so many of her popular books. Later this afternoon join a museum exploration within the Kingston Heritage Area. Wander through renovated buildings that date back to the early 1800’s, learning more about the island’s unique settlement history. View archaeological artifacts discovered on the Heritage Kingston and Arthurs Vale historic area (KAVHA) site and uncover their links to the Polynesian First settlers and the convict settlers that followed in the late 1700s. Finish your day with a fun, interactive dinner theatre, where the performers take you on a journey back in time and share the generational stories of times past. The Commandants dinner of traditional English fare will leave you in stiches from the laughter! Breakfast and dinner included.
DAY 6 -THANKSGIVING DAY PICNIC: This morning join the locals at the Church of England Thanksgiving Service at the historic All Saints Church at Kingston which is beautifully decorated with local produce. Norfolk Island is the only country outside the United States that celebrates Thanksgiving Day, dating back to the time when American whalers were living on Norfolk Island. It’s then time to join the celebrations with a traditional Island picnic lunch. You’ll sample some traditional Norfolk delights and enjoy complimentary red and white wine. Breakfast and lunch.
DAY 7 - BREAKFAST BUSHWALK & MEET THE LOCALS: This morning take part in a relaxed, scenic bushwalk through the National Park. Take in the beauty of the dramatic seascapes, the lush Norfolk Pines towering above and the unique flora and fauna that call the island home. Walk along the Bridle Track to Captain Cook’s Memorial and keep your camera handy! Breakfast will be served alfresco, BBQ style. In the afternoon embark on a foodie adventure as you meet passionate local farmers and sample their organic produce from delicious fresh honey to fruits and veggies. Enjoy this evening with a traditional Island Fish Fry, a welcoming Polynesian feast filled with dancing and atmosphere. Afterwards enjoy the first retelling of the island's history, when Bounty Mutineer Descendants first landed on Norfolk on a leisurely coach ride around the Historic area of Kingston. Breakfast and dinner included.
DAY 7 - GARDEN TOUR AND DEPART NORFOLK: Today, you will experience a personalised garden exploration that will enthral any garden enthusiast. First, step behind the scenes of a busy flower market and then venture out to a secluded old Island home and marvel at the beauty and colour of its surrounding gardens, still irrigated by a hand dug well from the convict era. Later this afternoon transfer to the airport. Breakfast included.
